Amy SIGIL
I've always been inspired by movement.
My first conscious movements were found around the neck of a quarter horse. When I was a young girl I fell in love with a horse named Biscuit. We were both very young together, her 7 months old and myself 7 years old. It was the first time I cared about how strong my legs were, my arms...my will. Biscuit and I were left alone on 40 acres to develop our relationship. She spent years trying to kill me. She ran me under low tree branches, scraped my legs against barbed wire fences, kicked me, bit me and tried to drown me in the pond numerous times. Here's what I learned; lay to the side of the saddle with your head lower then her back when approaching a low branch, throw both legs opposite the fence side, stay close to her body so she can only push you and not extend her leg for a full force kick, bite her back, and learn to swim as fast as a quarter horse. She was my best friend.
Who knows if it was Biscuit that built my love of working with large mammals, but it has resonated with me my entire life. I am passionate about group work, inclusivity and fitness. I am moved by music and work ethic, by Art and expression. Dance is all of these things for me. It is a way to further my relationship with my body and share these findings with others. What's beautiful about dance is that it is "me". It is "you". It is "us". What a beautiful thing to express yourself with yourself. Is there anything more authentic?" - Amy Sigil

Kendra Katz
I was lucky enough to find my passion at the age of 8, when I took my first belly dance class. I spent most of my teenage years in the dance studio, extensively studying belly dance, jazz, ballet, hip-hop, classical ballroom and salsa. In 1999, I became the youngest dancer ever to be accepted into the Suhaila Dance Company. By age 18, I was assistant director of the Suhaila Dance Company and of Bal Anat, as well as a principal teacher in the Suhaila Salimpour School of Dance. I toured with Suhaila regularly, teaching and performing throughout the Americas. At home, I was also an assistant instructor with Jamila Salimpour.
During those same years, I was performing with the Velocity Circus as a backup dancer for a whirling dervish act, contortionists, fire dancers, opera singers and menagerie of other performers. Traveling as far as India with the circus to perform in the Fa Femina Miss India Beauty Pageant.
The IndustryLately, I have been studying and performing with today’s West Coast Tribal Fusion scene – most notably with Zoe Jakes, Mira Betz, and Sharon Kihara. Professionally, I am member of Zoe Jakes’ Coven Dance Company.
On the day to day, I teach classes at my home studio in Berkeley, California, as well as workshops in the US and abroad. In addition to being a hard working dancer, I’m also a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine with a specialization in Corrective Exercise.
When I’m not on the dance floor, I’m out there kicking butts, coaching boot camp and training my clients in the gym. As a trainer as well as a dance teacher, I’m most known for my attention to detail and a keen eye for what each student needs to be able to grow. I feel that I have a sound understanding of anatomy and the way the human body moves – gleaned particularly from my work as a personal trainer – giving me the necessary tools to identify imbalances in my student’s bodies, guiding them out of injury and into growth.

Mat Jacob
As many of us, Mat Jacob first fell in love with Tribal Fusion Belly Dance when she first saw RACHEL BRICE move. A whole new universe opened up for her then.
Since that very moment, Mat has with much passion and dedication followed Miss Brice along with other muses she discovered on the way. She had the privilege to study with some of the most influential artists, in her opinion, of the tribal fusion belly dance world: MIRA BETZ, ZOE JAKES, MARDI LOVE, AMY SIGIL, ILLAN RIVIERE, ARIELLAH, KAMI LIDDLE, HEATHER STANTS and last but not least, her recent important discovery, PINY and ORCHIDACEAE TRIBAL. All of them make her heart beat with inspiration.
Mat is honored to have been a part of Rachel Brice’s project DATURA and is a guest dancer of Kami Liddle’s dance company GOLDSTAR.
Mat was the first level 3 certified from Rachel Brice’s 8 Elements program in the world and is certified to teach level 3 UNMATAstyle ITS.
She thinks DJEYNEE and YUKO should be in this bio cause she certainly wouldn’t be the same without them.
She thinks her STUDENTS should also all be in this bio because they are just as IMPORTANT as her teachers.

Kelli Li
KelliLi is a diverse artist. She has travelled the world to study Sharqi Cabaret, Tribal Fusion, Arabic Folkdance, and Middle Eastern Music. Her performance is generally acknowledged by its exceptional and unique expression in any way. She can gorgeously & clearly emerge and dance out the pith of all styles she has ever learned.
KelliLi is from Taipei, Taiwan. She has been studying Ballet when she was four years old. She also learned Jazz, Hip-Hop, House, Popping, Soul-step, Modern and Contemporary/Lyrical Dance these years. Because of bellydance, KelliLi is also learning Tabla (Doumbek, Darbuka) and Finger cymbals (Zills, Sagat). She is the president of Association of Dance Art in Taiwan, which helps advance cultural dance and music in Asia.
WHAT THEY RECOMMEND ABOUT KELLI… “These are a few things I love about Kelli Li as a person: her work ethic, her desire to experience, her humor, her willingness, her generosity and her love for everything she does.
These are a few things I love about Kelli Li as a student: her work ethic, her desire to experience, her humor, her willingness, her generosity and her love for everything she does.

– Amy Sigil
"Kelli shows courage where others show fear, her dancing continually pushes her own boundaries as well as the constraints others try and place on us as artists, as bellydancers. Her beauty and passion are exceeded only by her persistent dedication to learning and growing. She is a powerful soul and dedicated dancer that I am honored to have as a friend. I am so lucky to be able to witness her journey as an artist."
-Mira Betz
“I first met Kelli Li when she was participating in the Tribal Massive dance intensive in Las Vegas. I was immediately impressed with her strong technique, her passion for dance, and her commitment to her dance training. Over the years I have had many opportunities to observe Kelli as a student, a performer, a choreographer, a director, and an event producer. Kelli is knowledgable, dedicated, professional, and a true artist."
– Heather Stants
“Kelli Li is a very creative and hard working dance artist. I have known her since she was pre-professional. She has done the most authentic and correct process for developing her skills. She has travelled the world to study, be an apprentice, and invest in her learning. Miss Li went from basic technique development, into the accumulation of repertoire, and is now at the stage of unique self expression. She has a complex and wide range of dance styles she has managed to coalesce, including traditional Arabic, Modern Western Dance, and World Fusion traditions. She has avoided all commercial routes, while still managing to make works of crossover appeal. I would hope for, if not expect, that Kelli becomes an influential figure in the greater dance world in Asia and beyond."

Caroline Achouri

Arborescence was fonded in 2012 following the ATS® training organised by Tribal Me with the collaboration of Aziyadé. Julie de St. Blanquat, the first French teacher and student of Carolena Nereccio creator and director of the
well respected troupe FatChanceBellyDance trained many dancers all over France.
Right after the trainings a number of dancers came together to study and practice with a common desire to promote community spirit, to share their knowledge and the passion for tribal dance. Our values and motivation guide us to improve and deepen our apprenticeship with the FatChanceBellyDance troupe teachers as soon as the opportunity presents itself.
They decided to create a troupe to promote the tribal style during events, shows and transmit it through weekly classes and intensives.
In addition to always being close to the spirit of this style, the dancers of Arborescence place importance to the aesthetic value and focus on costumes and make up. Each performance is created after much research with an eye to being fresh and current without forgetting to respect for the traditions that enrich the beauty and depth of tribal dance. Arborescence continues to evolve due to an open exploration of the universe of Tribal Fusion.
