Alexis Southall - Biography
Known for her deep curves, elegant lines and seamless flow, Alexis Southall is a sought after performer and instructor of Tribal Fusion bellydance worldwide. Alexis has had the privilege to be an invited guest teacher and performer in 18 countries to date. She is praised for her precise technique, her flawless musicality, and innovative choreography and improvisation. She is a committed teacher, described by students as passionate, generous, warm and inspirational.
Over the years, Alexis has had the pleasure of studying with many extraordinary instructors. Among her foremost teachers she counts Samantha Emanuel, Zoe Jakes, Kami Liddle and Amy Sigil. She is a certified teacher of UNMATA's Improvisational Tribal Style Bellydance (ITS) Levels 1-4; Suhaila Salimpour Level 1 certified, Jamila Salimpour Level 1 certified; and achieved certification in General Skills for ATS with FatChanceBellyDance. She is a life-long student of dance and movement, constantly pushing her physical and creative boundaries.
In addition to her captivating solo work, Alexis has had the opportunity to work collaboratively with esteemed artists from all over the world. Highlights include performing with Jillina's 'Bellydance Evolution' show, Ambrosia Glam Tribal Dance Company and Olivia Kissel's HYBRID Dance Project.
Alexis is based in Wolverhampton, England with her husband Dan, where she teaches weekly Tribal Fusion and ITS classes. She is choreographer and director of the Juniper Project and Wreck It ITS group, organiser of Infusion Emporium Bellydance Festival, co-organiser of Gothla UK; and in 2013 she was a featured instructor on the UK Tribal Fusion instructional DVD. Outside of dance, Alexis is training to become a qualified Pilates instructor, makes jewellery, and has a PhD in Management.
